Rolled up holiday pay laws - effects on teachers

.

Under the new European Court of Justice ruling on rolled up holiday pay, temporary workers must now be paid for their holiday entitlement separately, and not as part of their weekly wage. However, whilst this may work in many industries, it could cause difficulties for the teaching profession as by its very nature, teaching involves automatic holiday dates whether teachers are permanent or on a supply basis.

John Dunn, director of Select Education and Education Chairman of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, is available for interview about how this new ruling will affect teachers and schools, including:
How supply teachers will most likely end up being paid late for their ’holiday’ entitlement.
That complying with the ruling will add administration costs, which will need to be absorbed by schools
How it is adding unnecessary beauracracy to already time-poor teachers and school administrators
