Recruiters rewarded for ground breaking work on age diversity

Spencer Jacobs, Director of Forties People is proud to have received an individual award at the Age Positive Awards 2006 this week

Spencer Jacobs, Director of Forties People is proud to have received an individual award at the Age Positive Awards 2006 this week.

His award is in recognition for his ground breaking work in promoting older workers into work. He comments ìThis award both acknowledges and endorses the long-running Forties People campaign to help end age discrimination in the workplace - and I am greatly honoured to receive it. The imminent legislation on the grounds of age is a major leap forward in the battle for fair play but policing the new law will in itself set further challenges that will need addressing in coming months and years.î

Forties People is a member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). Commenting on his award Marcia Roberts, Deputy Chief Executive of the REC said ìSpencer Jacobs thoroughly deserves this award for all his efforts. His agency proves, day in, day out, that age is just a number. Forties People concentrates on the essentials - getting the right candidate into the right job, regardless of age.î

Recruitment agencies are frequently given discriminatory instructions by clients. Forties People prove that by challenging discriminatory instructions from employers and encouraging them to consider candidates on their merits they get better workers. Spencer Jacobsí award is hot on the heels of another award for an REC agency in the field of age diversity. Eden Brown won the Age Positive Recruitment excellence award earlier in the year.
