Any one of the candidates could have survived longer if they possessed interpersonal and negotiating skills. Despite being the most successful project manager, Paul failed at the last hurdle and failed to fight his corner in the boardroom. His lack of confidence and failure to articulate resulted in him being fired.

Team leaders in this years Apprentice have consistently lacked essential project management skills, which have led to them being fired. Project leaders such as Nargis and Alexa need to know how to motivate their team and communicate as well as identifying problem areas or people and managing them or channelling them to reach success.

Jonathan Stone, National President of JCI UK said: ìThe series has succeeded in bringing business to the forefront of peopleís minds and the skills you need to be successful - project management, presentation and people skills, creativity, working under pressure, different team roles, sales and debating.

ìWhat is evident is that whilst the candidates have the raw talent they do not have the skills to succeed. By investing some time in out of hours organisations, such as JCI, they have the opportunity to build confidence and vital social skills, such as leadership, to become more rounded individuals that todayís businesses need.

ìThe British education system has become an exams factory in recent years, so Iím not surprised that The Apprentice has discovered that employers possess under-developed interpersonal skills. There is a dire need for the current and successive government to address the lack of enterprise education in schools.î
