A breakfast seminar showing how to make business projects and change more successful, by enhancing employee performance in project management, has been arranged in London on 24 May by assessment specialist PSL and Novare Consulting, the project management consultancy.
Featuring the best practice approaches used at Siemens Business Services, the seminar, called Delivering Projects Through People, is aimed at HR practitioners in organisations which currently - or plan to - utilise projects to deliver solutions as well as project management practitioners who are looking to learn about ways that can help increase the chances of project success.
Project management methodologies are increasingly being used to implement change, said Dave Millner, Consultancy Director at PSL. But many organisations fail to realise the full benefits because they neglect the people issues in their projects. They end up investing additional resources to make bad projects ëcome goodí. This seminar will show how to manage the people issues for more effective project management.
Trevor Band, Siemens Business Servicesí Project Management
Champion for the UK, will explain how the outsourcing and IT maintenance services provider achieved performance improvement by further enhancing the professionalism and practice of its project management. The company developed a set of consistent standards for best practice project management; instigated new training programmes to embed these principles within the business; enhanced its recruitment and selection processes for all project and programme manager roles and introduced Development Centres for senior project manager positions.
Dave Millner will explain how organisations can recruit, develop and retain the best project and programme managers and how they can engender an environment and culture that is supportive of project success.
Chris Ferguson, Managing Director of Novare Consulting, (who helped to develop the industry standard PRINCE2) will outline a framework for best practice project management which will involve and engage people in all aspects of the project life-cycle.
More effective project management can give an organisation a tangible competitive advantage, said Dave Millner. The HR challenge is to ensure that the right people have the professionalism, capability and motivation to undertake the right roles at the right time. Siemens Business Services has achieved this and organisations can learn from their example.
ëDelivering Projects Through Peopleí will run from 8.00am-10.30am on Wednesday 24 May 2006 at the Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch, London. Orange juice and croissants will be provided. Please call PSL on 020-8585 2345 or e-mail info@psl.com
