Changing attitudes to Christmas in the workplace

The Chartered Management Instituteís annual Christmas survey shows that attitudes have changed over the past 12 months

The Chartered Management Instituteís annual Christmas survey shows that attitudes have changed over the past 12 months. A year ago, many people were saying that Christmas at work was a chore, but now the majority claim to enjoy the company of their colleagues. The survey also found marked differences between the generosity of small and large organisations and identified the ífavourite Christmas songs.

Key findings are:

- Generosity goes up: the number hosting parties for staff has increased after a two year drop and organisations are donating money to charity at Christmas

- Good will is evident: the number of people saying Christmas is disruptive has begun to decline

- Size does matter: it appears that the larger the organisation, the less generous they are when it comes to giving time off and making financial contributions to staff parties
