Ceridian Expands Client Training and Education Services With New Virtual Academic Advisor Service

Human resources outsourcing company enables HR/payroll professionals at client companies to build personalized training and development roadmaps and add to their skill sets

Ceridian, a company in managed human resource outsourcing solutions that maximize the value of people, today announced that it has launched the Ceridian University Academic Advisor service, a first-of-its-kind virtual training and development tool for its client companies.

Ceridian Academic Advisor (which is available at no cost to Ceridian clients) provides HR and payroll professionals with a customized training and development plan suited to their level of experience, the needs of their organization and other professional development goals. For example, if a fast-growing mid-sized company expands its HR and payroll department, it can use the virtual Academic Advisor to define training plans suited to each individual, based on their specific job responsibilities and career goals.

Ceridian developed its Academic Advisor offering in cooperation with the American Payroll Association (APA), the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Holmes Corporation. To get started, Ceridian clients can visit Ceridianís Web site and complete a personalized survey to assess their training needs. The Ceridian University Academic Advisor then generates a detailed, personalized roadmap for obtaining industry certifications, recommends APA and SHRM continuing education courses, and suggests printed and online resource materials, as well as Ceridian HR/Payroll training classes.

ìCeridian has exhibited great vision for continuing education for its clients, said APA’s executive director, Dan Maddux. They recognize that payroll and HR are always changing and that professionals in our industry need tools to stay ahead of trends and regulations. This latest enhancement to their already successful Ceridian University program is a valuable service to the entire payroll/HR industry.

Added Sharon Stein, senior vice president of service for Ceridian, ìThis tool will provide our clients with a one-stop shop for the best educational resources in the industry, so that they can stay current on their training, advance in their careers, and of course run top-flight HR and payroll programs within their organizations. Academic Advisor is a great enhancement to the existing training elements of Ceridian University. Ceridian team members also utilize the Advisor to manage their professional development and remain in sync with our clientsí training levels.î

Introduced at the 2004 APA Congress, Ceridian University provides Ceridian product certification for employees and customers, and offers access to preparation materials for industry certifications. Ceridian employees participate in a minimum of 60 hours of training yearly, a standard that exceeds the industry average by more than fifty percent. Another feature of Ceridian University that was introduced earlier this year is the APA Knowledge Assessment Calculator (KAC), a valuable tool that enables payroll professionals to comprehensively measure their knowledge and understanding of the current payroll environment.

The Ceridian University Academic Advisor service is available now to Ceridian clients.
