Redmatch, a human resources software company, has helped Tooling University of Cleveland reduce the resume evaluation process from a full work week to only a few minutes, freeing up time for other, higher value recruiting activities. But it was not always this way.
As the vice president of Tooling U., a firm providing web-based training to more than 10,000 manufacturing workers, Tom Barrett needed to double the number of his employees to service his customers, including several Fortune 500 companies. The result: ìresumassî; the HR staff was buried in resumes.
The solution: Tooling U. deployed Redmatch Recruiter, a patent-pending software system that facilitates highly accurate matching of jobs and candidates. With its unique reciprocal job matching engine, Redmatch Recruiter matches job requirements with the skills entered by the job candidate, grading candidates as they apply. So, instead of facing a pile of unread resumes each morning, Toolingís HR team sees a scored list of qualified candidates, marked as 50-100 percent match based on their profiles. They can immediately tell which skills the candidate may be lacking, simply by glancing at the thumbs up/thumbs down icons in the candidate summaries.
Before Redmatch, the time it took to pare down the pile to the five or ten top resumes was painstaking,î Barrett said. It got to the point where a fantastic candidate might come in, but I wouldnít see that resume until a week later, since it would get buried.
Stories such as Tomís serve to validate our efforts to liberate HR professionals from paperwork, according to Redmatch co-founder and CEO Gal Almog. ìRecruiters are no longer buried under piles of resumes. With Redmatch, recruiters reduce the lengthy hiring process times, during which qualified candidates are lost to more proactive companies or become alienated by the amount of waiting time.
Although Barrett advertised on job boards, such as Monster.com or Hotjobs.com, to gain maximum exposure for his job openings, the flood of unqualified resumes he received for each position meant hours of work for his HR manager.
What used to take a week of work has been cut down to around 10 minutes, Barrett said. Now our HR team can focus its time on higher-value activities, such as convincing those top candidates to join Tooling U., rather than pursuing a competing opportunity. They also are instrumental in the interview process and in closing the deal with each person we hire.
