Xerox Europeís European distribution model is based on a network of exclusive channel partners, known as concessionaires who account for 50 percent of the companyís revenue. To support its distributorsí recruitment drive, assist with its sales force management and to increase company growth, Xerox has implemented an e-recruitment programme across 15 countries in Europe.
ìWe receive an average of 100,000 applications to source 2,000 openingsî explained Sandrine
Geffrouais-Guetin, Programme Manager, European Concessionaire Operations. ìWe wanted to bring a superior level of support to our operations in Europe in terms of HR strategy, recruitment management and employee loyalty. We also wanted to encourage our 4500 salespeople to develop a pan-European team spirit and loyalty to the Xerox brand.î
After reviewing several e-recruitment solutions, Xerox Europe selected Jobpartnersí ActiveRecruiter to optimise the recruitment process and reduce associated costs. The solution has enabled Xeroxís recruiters and managers to easily manage the entire recruitment process and implement all aspects of the project on a pan-European basis.
The programme has been operating since December 2002 and covers six major areas: communication to the job market; sourcing applicants; skills selection; integrating teams; skills development; and employee loyalty.
Each Xerox concessionaire has Internet access to a European-wide portal dedicated exclusively to the recruitment process. The e-HR portal, eXpress Yourself, is the backbone of the ActiveRecruiter solution and is divided into two parts. Firstly, a recruiter and Xerox manager gateway is accessible internally on Xeroxís extranet with a set of specific codes and passwords.
Secondly, a job applicant gateway allows Xerox recruiters to post
job offers online through different recruitment channels and media partners, receive applications and automate follow-up.
ìWe wanted to provide our concessionaires with the tools to optimise the HR procedure by saving them time spent communicating with their media partners and in managing the recruitment strategy,î explained Sandrine Geouffrais-Guetin.
Because the portal is accessible throughout Europe, Xerox has plans to offer company information such as product details and training events to all its personnel.
The project roll-out took place in two phases. From December 2002 to January 2003, Xerox focused on information gathering and communicating with the European management team in order to bring the company up-to-speed on the ActiveRecruiter features, with particular emphasis on the analysis and reporting functions. Xerox then worked on the programme launch and roll-out to 15 countries in Europe. Jobpartnersí expertise in support and multi-country implementation ensured a successful roll-out in less than six months.
ìWe are convinced that our teams will receive the same close follow-up and excellent support from Jobpartners, which contributed to the success of the launch phase, to ensure the same level of success in the next three years,î concluded Sandrine Geouffrais-Guetin.
