SHL (UK) Ltd, today announces the appointment of Mike Tims as commercial director

SHL (UK) Ltd, a provider of objective assessment, today announces the appointment of Mike Tims as commercial director of its assessment business. Mike joins SHL from Hay Group where as an associate director he held senior roles including business manager responsible for the Companyís financial and TMT (technology, media and
telecommunications) practice.

The SHL assessment business employs 40 experienced consultants in the UK, including development specialists and chartered occupational psychologists. These consultants work closely with their clients to develop solutions that solve real business issues. Key areas include talent management, leadership development, sales force effectiveness and individual and team performance. Using SHL products as well as specially developed interventions, the assessment business combines bespoke approaches with fully validated and highly respected tools and methodologies.

SHL is regarded as the íGold Standardí in objective assessment and I am very excited about joining the company, Mike commented. The assessment business has gone through some major changes in the last year and is now positioned to capitalise on a buoyant market. We have some of the best consultants, supported by unparalleled research and products, and I am looking forward to combining these to deliver high-impact business solutions to our clients.

Mikeís early career was spent in the British Army where he was a captain in the Royal Engineers. He spent eight years as a managing director in the manufacturing sector, taking a hands-on approach to marketing, customer relations and selling. He also established his own company in the hospitality technology sector.

In 1999, Mike established Great Place to Work UK, a project which sought to research and celebrate the best organisations to work for in the UK. With the backing of the DTI, and through relationships with the CBI, IoD, Investors in People, Institute of Management and the British Quality Foundation, Great Place to Work UK surveyed over 200 blue chip organisations. The results were published in the Sunday Times in February 2001 as the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work for in the UK supplement. Mike joined Hay in 2001 to head a team of consultants responsible for 6 million in sales per annum.

Kevin Kerrigan, managing director, SHL (UK) Ltd, commenting on Mike Timsí appointment, said; Mike brings a wealth of experience to SHL, not only in terms of running successful consulting businesses, but also of the issues and demands of day-to-day management faced by our customers. Our assessment business has a reputation for delivering high-quality work that adds real value to our customerís organisations - I know that Mikeís appointment will help us to continue to grow this reputation and our business in this key area.
