The Mallís management development programme has been given the seal of approval, in the form of an Endorsed Award, from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). This is an industry first, with no other shopping centre operator in the country having gained this prestigious accolade.
The Management Training is part of a wider all employee training initiative, which The Mall calls its M Power Programme. This ranges from skills training for the shopping centre based teams to executive coaching with the senior management.
The programme has been co-developed with The Mallís training partner Appin Management, which has helped put together a course that is customised to suit the individual needs of The Mall. The design of the course was as a result of consultation with a wide range of employees, including Operations Managers, General Managers, and Mall Central Managers.
Gaynor Gillespie, HR Director of The Mall, said: ìAn endorsement from the ILM has given our management training the recognition it deserves. This latest M Power initiative will grow in scale as new Malls are welcomed to the business. The programme has been designed to allow new people to join the course at any point and to get the development from it that is right for them. As more people experience the course the benefits will grow, both for individuals and for the business as a whole ñ which is the aim of the M Power programme.î
Dave Gardner, from Appin Management, makes the point:
ìThe ILM is the UKís leading professional awards organisation for management qualifications, and to have our course recognised at this level is a great achievement. It also says a great deal about the design of the course and the standard it sets.î
