Blue Tree champions age diversity!

Careers Bradford and Blue Tree Careers Management have been recognised by the Government for tackling age discrimination in the workplace

Careers Bradford and Blue Tree Careers Management have been recognised by the Government for tackling age discrimination in the workplace, by becoming the latest Age Positive Employer Champion.

Age Positive, the Department for Work and Pensions campaign to tackle age discrimination at work, has awarded Employer Champion status to over 100 organisations who are committed to tackling ageism in the workplace and have taken practical steps to change their employment practices ahead of legislation in 2006.

Alan Gleghorn, Careers Bradford and Blue Tree Careers Management Consultant, said:

ìBecoming an Employer Champion has been a real acknowledgement of the work we have always done to support age diversity. Blue Tree realises that being an Age Positive company can increase morale, improve recruitment and retention, widen our skills base and ultimately improve our bottom line. We would recommend other companies to implement positive age practices now.î

Malcolm Wicks, Minister for Pensions, said:

ìAge discrimination costs the UK economy up to 31 billion per year. Age Positive practices help businesses become more profitable, increase their productivity and improve morale. There is no business case in waiting until 2006 to become age diverse.î

Employer Champions play a vital role in the Age Positive campaign. By promoting their own best practice and highlighting the practical business benefits of having a mixed age workforce, they encourage other employers and individuals to tackle age discrimination in the workplace.
