HR & payroll professionals descended on the NEC, Birmingham last week for the autumn Softworld HR & Payroll event (20 ñ 21 October 2004). Softworld, Europe’s leading forum for the profession, featured a comprehensive free educational programme, 35 exhibitors, and product launches from many of the key solutions providers in the market. The bi-annual event aims to keep HR and payroll professionals up to date with the issues affecting them and the latest technology available to help deal with those issues.
New product launches and announcements included:
BASDA launched the first ever recognised Code of Practice designed to set quality standards for best practice for software suppliers.
Snowdrop Systems launched an updated version of its HR and Payroll software. Version 5.2 is designed to streamline communications between HR and IT departments, speeding up HR processes for new starters, as well as enabling organisations to recruit more easily through their intranets and websites.
Softworks Computing Ltd launched the latest addition to its suite of Time & Attendance / Flexitime solutions. This flexible, multi-purpose IVR (Interactive Voice Response) telephony solution can be applied to all industries and all business environments, allowing companies to utilise the same powerful time and attendance tools available from traditional clocking on systems, maximising business efficiency and profit margins.
Intellect showcased the latest additions to its highly successful Workforce suite of modules. Workforce comprises seven core options offering an innovative, flexible and easy to use solution for organisations requiring a modular approach to HR. The latest version - 12.5 - incorporates a host of exciting new features, with the emphasis on automation.
Topaz unveiled the latest versions of its Topaz Financials and Topaz EMS packages containing numerous enhancements including many further additions to Topaz EMS, the company’s combined payroll and HR offering.
In addition, Softworld played host to eight independent masterclass sessions led by industry experts. Highlights included a session by the Inland Revenue on ’online filing for employers’, which gave delegates an overview of the PAYE online filing, as well as a timetable of deadlines.
Last week’s event ran concurrently with the Softworld Accounting & Finance, Softworld Business Integration Expo and Business Performance & Project Management Forum events.
