Make a difference - places on the Skillsmart board

For small and medium sized (SME) retailers

Skillsmart, the Sector Skills Council for Retail has vacancies on its board for small and medium sized (SME) retailers.

In particular the organisation is looking for representation from retailers based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as ethnic minority retailers.
In all cases applicants should be either owner managers or in the case of the larger SMEs directors of the company concerned. Although responsibilities are not onerous, members of the board must be willing to attend six board meeting each year and to ìbuddyî with a member of the Skillsmart team. Term of office is for two years and the post is unpaid although expenses can be paid on a discretionary basis.

The following attributes are required by board directors who should:

be able to speak knowledgably on behalf or the SME retail sector generally and, more specifically, on behalf of the sector they come from.

have some affinity (either expertise or enthusiasm) with the skills agenda.

be a good ambassador for retail.
