The University of Sheffield has appointed Andrew Dodman to the post of Director of Human Resources

The University of Sheffield has appointed Andrew Dodman to the post of Director of Human Resources.

Andrew will take up his post, and join the University’s Executive Board (UEB) at the end of March 2011, following the retirement of Rosie Valerio.

Andrew is currently Deputy Director of Human Resource Management at the University, and joined the University six years ago. This role has seen him take the lead on employee/industrial relations and a number of specific corporate-wide initiatives.

These projects have included business systems, leadership development and performance management, and have attracted national acclaim, including the Times Higher Education (THE) ‘Outstanding HR Team’ earlier this year, and the Runner Up Award at the national Charted Institute of Personal and Development People Management Awards 2010.

Before joining the University, Andrew was the Group HR Manager for a large charity/housing association, and prior to this held several positions in the NHS.

Andrew graduated from the University of Bath with a first in Business Administration in 1996. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personal and Development (FCIPD) and was awarded a distinction in his MBA from the University of Leeds this year.

Andrew said: I am delighted to be able to continue my relationship with the University and build on our successes and achievements. The contribution, talent and commitment of all of our staff is a critical priority for the University, especially as we are now entering a period of significant change within the Higher Education sector.
