This week, online recruitment
agency webrecruit celebrated the arrival of the 50,000th member to
its LinkedIn group, further demonstrating the changing tide of recruitment.
The group, Transforming Recruitment
Online, which comprises employers, recruiters and candidates from all
industries, is making big waves in the recruitment sector thanks to its
content, exclusive ‘Ask James Caan’ column
and expansive networking opportunities.
Phil Roebuck, CEO of webrecruit, commented: ‘Welcoming
our 50,000th member was a fantastic achievement. It highlighted just
how much the recruitment landscape is changing. Candidates are fast adopting
new ways to find jobs and communicate with employers, and LinkedIn is strengthening
this relationship.
‘On average, the group attracts around 1,000 new members every ten days
– all ready to share their ideas about the industry, suggest improvements and
network. Employers and recruiters looking to attract the best talent in 2011
need to capitalise on emerging trends, one of which is social media.’
Former Dragons’ Den star James
Caan writes a weekly column which has resulted in a number of success stories.
Respondents have benefited from the serial entrepreneur and recruitment icon’s
expertise and have gone on to secure work and grow their businesses.
The column has also caught the
attention of a number of entrepreneurs and industry names who will feature as
guest writers for James’ interactive Q&A column, offering advice on a range
of specialist areas.
The group is also gaining a powerful reputation as an instrument of change.
Commenting further, Phil said: ‘We all
know that unfortunately the recruitment industry has earned a poor reputation
for communication when it comes to job seekers, and the group has been
important in showing recruitment agencies that change is needed – and is
inevitable.
‘One of webrecruit’s core values is to champion the needs of candidates – after
all, without them, we’d be out of business. By listening to, and acting upon, feedback from discussions,
we are using social media to our advantage and have introduced a number of
service enhancements.
‘Success with social media isn’t something that can happen overnight,
however. The 50,000 strong group is a result of delivering users with what they
want, and knowing how to use LinkedIn’s networking capabilities.’
The online recruitment agency continues to lead the way in social media
thanks to a new partnership with Facebook and CareerBuilder to deliver its
clients with further value.
