SHLís Verify Goes European

Tests launched in five new languages

SHL, the leader in psychometric assessments, has launched its Verify range of online ability tests in five European languages.

The tests are now available in French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and German and include Inductive Reasoning, designed to assess ëoutside of the boxí thinking, as well as Verbal and Numerical Reasoning, which focus on solutions to general rules and principles. This is part of a working programme that will ultimately see the SHL Verify tests available in over 20 languages including Arabic, Finnish and Asia Pacific languages.

Each language-specific test has been developed in accordance with SHLís robust validation process, which involves extensive local trials to ensure that test translation is absolutely accurate and cultural styles are fully accounted for.

Eugene Burke, Director of Science and Innovation at SHL, comments, ìAs a global company, we are pleased to be launching our Verify products across Europe. With over 200,000 Verify tests already completed in English since launch in 2006, those organisations operating on a multi-national level can also now benefit by confidently incorporating the full Verify range into their ongoing recruitment and talent management processes.î

Inductive Reasoning, the latest in SHLís Verify portfolio, is useful for recruiting candidates into roles that involve corporate strategy, creativity, new product development, research & development and IT. It can also be beneficial for identifying potential senior management and executives, where problem-solving and decision-making inevitably require more innovative solutions. Verbal and Numerical Reasoning tests are used to measure work-relevant aptitudes and can be used across a wide range of sectors. They are used to predict a candidateís job success and future potential.

The SHL Verify tests are widely used to support the recruitment process, and are packaged with a shorter follow-up test, which is often carried out by prospective employers at the face-to-face interview. This follow-up ëverificationí test ensures that the person attending the interview is of the same ability as the person who took the original unsupervised test online.

The scientifically robust processes used to develop SHLís assessments, mean that it is virtually impossible for a candidate to ever sit the same test twice, due to the extensive item bank of questions that are created for each language, and then randomised for each test.

Individuals can practice these European language tests on SHLís dedicated assessment advice site, SHL Direct (www.shldirect.com).
