The past year has witnessed a myriad of changes in the staffing sector and there are many challenges to come. As forecast at last yearís World Leaders in Recruitment Conference the economic climate had a significant impact on the events over the past 12 months. How has the recruitment industry coped? Stephen Harvey - Director of People, Profit & Loyalty - Microsoft
Stephenís vocation in life is to help people reach their full potential to the extent they get to do what they do best every day! At Microsoft this means making great hires, matching the people to a great job and then putting them under a great manager. By then communicating an exciting vision of the future, Stephen focuses on getting the employees engaged in what they do. This is the model that fundamentally drives long-term profitability and customer loyalty.

Day-to-day Stephen manages the Finance & Administration team, Human Resources, and also Customer & Partner Loyalty. He is a central figure in the Microsoft Executive team.

Stephen will give delegates a unique perspective from a corporate client viewpoint.

Julia Robertson - Managing Director - Carlisle Staffing Services
Julia has direct responsibility for Carlisle Groupís UK businesses in the Office, Professional and Industrial markets, some 150 million in total. Julia became part of the Carlisle senior management team, following the groupís acquisition of Tate Appointments in February 2000 and now has brands such as Recruit Employment Services, Indigo, Hewitson Walker, Tate, Barker Personnel, Stirling and Delta reporting to her.

Formerly Chief Executive of the Institute of Employment Consultants (1993-96), Julia is a respected figure in the worldwide staffing industry and has spoken at UK, European, New Zealand and Australian national recruitment conferences, as well as appearing on radio and television.

Roger Bootle - UK Economic Adviser to Deloitte & Touche
Roger Bootle is one of the City of London''s best-known economists. As well as being Managing Director of Capital Economics, he is also Economic Adviser to Deloitte & Touche, a Visiting Professor at Manchester Business School and a Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Treasury Committee.

Roger Bootle was formerly Group Chief Economist at HSBC, one of the largest banking and financial services groups in the world. Before the change of government, he was appointed a member of the Chancellor''s Panel of Independent Economic Forecasters (the Wise Men).

Roger Bootle has written many articles on monetary economics and is joint author of the book Theory of Money and author of Index-linked Gilts. His latest book, the best-seller The Death of Inflation, was published in April 1996 and the paperback edition in April 1997. It has subsequently been translated to nine languages.

Roger is a regular columnist in The Sunday Telegraph newspaper and a well-known broadcaster on both radio and television.

Dave Pye - Managing Director - Parity Resourcing Solutions
Dave (37) joined Parity in September 2000 and became Managing Director of PRS in August 2001. As well as being a member of the Executive Management Board, Dave is responsible for the pan-European professional services division incorporating recruitment, consultancy and technology. He has been leading the business transformation of PRS as well as positioning Parity Group as a uniquely integrated technology services provider. Dave has held senior positions within the recruitment industry as well as running his own business back in the early 90ís. Dave speaks on leadership, customer management and workstyle issues and has 16 years experience in the recruitment solutions and human capital management sectors.

Miles Hunt - Group Managing Director, Empresaria Group plc
Miles is a solicitor and former management consultant. He founded Empresaria in 1996 as a start up and has overseen its development into a group of 18 companies and 16 market niche brands covering 4 broad sectors. Each company is partly owned by its management team. Empresaria was one of the first recruitment companies to list its shares on OFEX.


David Gallagher - Managing Director - PrimeTime
David is the leading force behind Prime Timeís success and phenomenal growth since itís inception in 1992. His years of experience within the recruitment industry have earnt him the reputation as an innovative and dynamic player in a competitive and constantly evolving marketplace. David believes that innovation, development and hardwork are the key factors of success, and is determined that Prime Time Recruitment will never lose out by standing still.


James Wellesley-Wesley - Managing Director, Investment Banking - Baird
A Cambridge University economics graduate, James spent four years with J.P. Morgan before joining Baird. He heads up the Business Services sector team and has particular expertise in the Human Capital Services sub sector. Over the last 3 years, he has advised Manpower, Select Appointments (including its 1.1billion takeover by Vedior) and TMP Worldwide on acquisitions in the UK. He also advises a range of substantial companies in the HCS sector, including Reed Executive, Reed Health, Spring and Whitehead Mann as well as larger private companies.


Conference Chairman

Chris Ward - Partner - Deloitte & Touche
Chris is a partner in the Corporate Finance Division of Deloitte & Touche and specialises in Management buy-outs and buy-ins. He is the firmís Head of Private Equity and Head of CF Advisory. In most assignments he takes on the principal financial advisory role, leading and co-ordinating the transaction from initiation to completion.
