A passionate affair at work has been replaced by a passionate affair with work suggests new research released today. Nearly three quarters (74%) of office workers say they ëloveí their job.
The research of over 1,500 workers, carried out by Office Angels, the UKís leading secretarial recruitment consultancy, shows we are a nation of positive workers, with only 4% of those surveyed not enjoying their role.
Finding ëThe Oneí
According to the blissfully happy office workers, finding a job you love depends on fulfilment of the 3s: Social relationships, satisfaction and structure.
Social Relationships - More than just friends
Over three quarters of those questioned (77%) say they have made friends for life at work and 65% look forward to for the next dayís banter with colleagues.
Nearly two third of those surveyed (64%) socialise with their colleagues at least once a week and 35% up to three times a week. Itís no surprise then that 81% of workers admit they see their colleagues more than partners or friends.
A quarter (23%) of office workers met their partner through work and a distracted 19% admit they have a crush on someone at work.
Satisfaction - Flirting with Power
Six out of 10 (61%) workers prefer to describe their role as ëpart of their lifeí rather than ëjust a jobí and 20% say find their working life more satisfying than their home life.
Three quarters (71%) admit they find managing others one of the most satisfying aspects of their job while nearly half (46%) agree that working to deadlines and pressure gives them a buzz.
Structure ñ Secure and Stable
Many employees enjoy the structure work adds to their life, with 55% claiming they would be bored without the daily routine work brings.
Just under half (49%) admit to going stir crazy at home when off sick while a third (32%) actually look forward to returning to the office after a holiday.
The January Blues suffered by 76% of workers have clearly disappeared into the bank with Januaryís pay packet as Februaryís workers have a spring in their step. Six out of 10 (64%) admit to feeling excited about the challenges of the working year to come.
David Clubb, Managing Director of Office Angels, comments, ìThere is so much more to work than ëworkí and itís great to hear people recognise all the positive benefits a rewarding job and happy working environment can offer. Following a miserable start to the year itís warming to know that the nationís workers feel passionate again.î
Work is a four letter word ñ spelt L.O.V.E
