ATSCo raises over 60,000 for NSPCC in one evening

Over 550 guests attend fifth charity ball
Peter Flaherty personally raises 500

ATSCo has raised over 60,000 for its nominated charity, the NSPCC, at the IT staffing industryís fifth annual charity ball, the largest and most successful ever.

The 60,000 raised easily smashed last yearís impressive amount of 48,000.

The event, which had a circus theme, was held at Londonís Intercontinental Hotel and attended by over 550 guests, a big increase on the 400 revellers in 2003. Professional clowns, jugglers, stilt-walkers and cartoonists mingled with and entertained the guests throughout the evening.

A substantial portion of the 60,000 was raised at the auction, which was hosted by Christies, the world-renowned auctioneers. The lots included a rare collection of Kylie memorabilia, chosen and donated by Kylie herself, a four night trip to see the Moscow State Circus in Russia, a five night stay at the famous ëCircus Circusí hotel in Las Vegas, and an England rugby shirt, donated and signed by Lawrence Dallaglio.

All the lots were kindly donated by ATSCo members.

Guests were entertained after the auction by a casino, tarot readers, vodka luges and chocolate fountains. Circus games were also available to enjoy, including a rifle range and bucking bronco.

Some high-profile guests, however, were seen to devote too much of their time to one game. A high-spirited Peter Flaherty, Director of Recruitment Investment Group and founding member of ATSCo, spent much of the evening being tossed from the bucking bronco. However, Peter is not the kind of man to humiliate himself for nothing - his antics raised 500 for the NSPCC, along with the cheers of the onlookers.

Ann Swain, ATSCo Chief Executive, commented: The NSPCC is a wonderful cause and ATSCo is proud to continue its association with the charity. I am thrilled that we managed to surpass last yearís donation of 48,000 by such a large margin and look forward to raising an even bigger chunk of our 1m pledge in 2005.

Growing optimism in the IT staffing industry, combined with the huge turnout by ATSCoís growing membership, helped make this our most successful ball so far.
