With Technology becoming a big part of our lives and a part of the job force, most recruiters use it in their search for finding the right candidate. Especially with automated processes. What skills do recruiters need to sharpen to make the most of their automated system? The most valuable skills for recruiters to have when they are looking for the right hire are:
Technical Skills:
This is important because it deals with the bridging between technology and the recruiter. Having sharp data analytics when looking at a resume, allows a recruiter to be able to identify top performers by being able to read what the automated process does not understand. The recruiter has a certain level of cognition that a machine doesn’t. A recruiter should be tech savvy and be able to have a good understanding of technology since they are partnering with an automated process to find the best outcome.
Soft Skills:
The skills that make a human different from technology, they are the communication, engagement, and understanding. The soft skills go farther in reading and knowing whether a candidate is qualified for the position or not. Recruiters need to keep their communication skills sharp so that they can determine ‘who is the best candidate for the job’.
Having both of these skills up to date allows recruiters to fill in where automated processes cannot. Automated processes cannot know the quality of hire, competency/skills gap analysis, ability/skills to execute strategy, and professional development.
This is where human skills are needed. Having social skills on social media are another big device for recruiters to display their charm. But not everyone uses social media, therefore automated processes will not be able to let a hiring manager know the right candidate. Networking gives recruiters an alternate feel for the candidate when they may not have social media. Having technology allows you to have access to data and properly assess resumes. This addition to HR life increases both quantity and production, while helping eliminate the candidate pool. With the knowledge and skills that are required of HR today, having technology is one way to help make the whole process more efficient and easier.
