The Friday Media Group has launched a new campaign to recruit a new digital marketing executive using Twitter as the application tool

Jobseekers will now be able to apply for the role by tweeting why they should be considered. The challenge is they only have up to a maximum of 140 characters to do this.

The decision to recruit using social media has been promoted by the Friday Media Group’s recognition of the importance of social media platforms in recruitment today, and in moving with the times, has begun to move forward in making the gap between the job seeker and the recruiter smaller.

Carlie Dragone, social media executive at Friday Media Group, said: “For this type of role we’re looking for people who are creative and digitally savvy, and wanted to test their abilities as a way of recruiting.

“We believe this is a new and innovative way to recruit, and if successful, something we could use for every job vacancy we recruit for.”

To apply, people simply need to tweet @marketing_job. The closing date for the job is 4th May 2011.
