TMP Worldwide is pleased to announce its support for youth charity The Princeís Trust. With TMPís support, The Princeís Trust will help more disadvantaged young people into work across the UK.
Andrew Wilkinson, CEO at TMP Worldwide, comments: ìWe are thrilled to be able to offer support to The Princeís Trust both in terms of working with The Trust in the communities at our London and regional offices but also in taking part in initiatives that develop our peopleís individual skills through coaching and mentoring young people in preparation for work. The fact TMP works with employers across the public and private sectors make us perfectly placed to offer advice and support for young people in securing careers.î
TMPís association with the charity reinforces many of the companyís core values that focus on; learning from others, respecting communities and commitment to work with employers as clients on ensuring a fair representation of all candidates to uphold diversity in the workplace.
To ensure the success of the partnership with The Princeís Trust, TMP has elected ëCharity Championsí from among TMP employees. This is to guarantee sponsorship raising opportunities and local volunteering is coordinated. These staff volunteers will act as ambassadors within the company to promote the opportunities to get involved with The Princeís Trust such as the recently publicised ëPalace to Palace bike rideí, which will see 3,000 cyclists riding from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle in September.
Liz Jewer, HR Director at TMP Worldwide, endorses this move: ìThis is a superb opportunity to develop our peopleís skills in a new way as part of a dynamic cross-functional team. The internal champions will work across teams and departments, and more importantly this is a great way to give something back and to change young lives.î
Youth charity The Princeís Trust gives disadvantaged young people the skills and confidence to get a job or start their own business. It has helped more than 600,000 young people since 1976 and support 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people that The Trust helped last year moved into work, education or training.
Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy 10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs 1 billion every year.
