The recruitment revolution

We are on the brink of a revolution in recruitment unparalleled in the last decade, according to one of the countryís leading recruitment experts, Hamish Davidson

We are on the brink of a revolution in recruitment unparalleled in the last decade, according to one of the countryís leading recruitment experts, Hamish Davidson.

Having spent the last 20 years matching the countryís high flying professionals with the most senior vacancies in the public and voluntary sector market, Hamish Davidson has now found a new job for himself. In a move which will begin the transformation of the recruitment market, he accepted the appointment as Chairman of the largest public and not-for-profit, on-line recruitment organisation in the UK, jobsgopublic

Demonstrating that jobs are very much his business, it is his third such appointment in the last two months. In February, Hamish was appointed as Chairman of the public sectorís newest and fastest growing recruitment consultancy, Rockpools. Last month, he was appointed as non-executive Chairman of IRIS Consulting ñ the London-based change management consultancy practice. He is also on the board of Pinnacle, Britainís leading provider of neighbourhood management services to local authorities and housing associations.

Hamish joined JGP as he shares the socially responsible ethos of the company and sees the product benefits and the partnership potential for the local authority marketplace. His role in all three companies is by no means unrelated as they all share the same values and work closely on a range of issues and projects.

ìThe synergies between these companies provide a unique opportunity to develop a new and innovative approach to recruitmentî, said Hamish Davidson.

ìBy using the latest technology, we are now able to extensively widen the recruitment net and greatly reduce costs to our clients, whilst always ensuring a high calibre of candidates for every position.

ìThis is a win, win, win position, as it is good for business, good for our clients and candidates, and ultimately, good for the communities we are all here to serve. I genuinely believe that technology is going to radically modernise the archaic recruitment practices still in use in much of the public sector ñ driven by Gershon, e-efficiency and straight forward economic good sense. The organisations I am privileged to represent are going to be at the vanguard of this changeî.

Online recruitment specialists, jobsgopublic, already carry job vacancies for hundreds of employers throughout the country every day. Last year, JGP listed over 60,000 jobs, more than twice the number advertised in The Guardian newspaper in the same period. Over 46% per cent of local authorities in England have subscribed to their online services ñ with an increasing proportion of jobs now advertised only online.

The site is free to use and allows job seekers to quickly create an account from where they can search for jobs and apply for vacancies online, using its unique ’once-only’ application form service. Its ìjobs-by-email serviceî ensures job seekers are always kept informed about the jobs they are interested in, whilst the ìTalent Poolî allows employers to immediately match job seekers with the exact skills they are looking for.

David Marshall, Managing Director of JGP said: ìWe are delighted to have Hamish on board as his extensive knowledge and experience of recruitment in the public sector is second to none. He is arguably the best known headhunter in the country and will bring a fresh direction to our already successful business at a time of enormous change.

ìAs councils up and down the country try to respond to the rigours of Gershon and the governmentís continued drive to put public services on-line, we believe that this is the right time to expand our offer to clients and there is no one better placed to lead the change and drive through continued and ambitious improvements than Hamish.

ìWorking with Rockpools and Iris, we believe that we can transform the recruitment offer to the public sector and help them to moderniseî.
