Specialist recruitment consultancy, The Principle Partnership, has launched its guide for HR professionals on exercising rigour in the recruitment process. The guide covers a range of areas from how to conduct an interview to get the most out of it to making better use of resources and the advice available through specialist recruitment partners.
The guide was produced in response to a number of factors. Firstly, the level of risk associated with making bad recruitment decisions is higher than it has ever been. The cost in terms of resources and training invested into a new employee is vast, which means that organisations need to ensure that they recruit effectively to achieve a good return on their investment (ROI) rather than a loss on their balance sheet.
Secondly, the amount of legislation and red tape affecting the recruitment process is increasing. There is inevitably a danger that recruiting for a new role will become an increasingly resource-intensive exercise. In turn this may well dilute the thoroughness which must be applied in order to make the best decision and get the maximum ROI.
Finally, rigour must be exercised in an organisationís presentation to candidates as competition for talent is currently rife. So the efficiency and professionalism of the interview process, the way in which a candidate is greeted upon arrival and presentation of the organisationís brand values is fundamental in staying competitive and recruiting successfully.
Chris Smith, CEO of The Principle Partnership, comments:
ìThe risk factor in recruitment has never been higher. Making a bad decision can prove costly in its own right and in some cases can have a detrimental effect on overall productivity. There is always some degree of risk when recruiting for a new role, but this risk can be significantly mitigated against through exercising rigour in the recruitment process from asking the right questions to presenting the organisation in the best possible light. The challenge for many organisations is that they donít have the time and resources to be as thorough as they would like to be, as other priorities take precedent. Our guide is designed to encourage those currently involved in recruitment to apply rigour to reduce risk and to make better use of some of the specialist resources available to them.î
