The Human Capital Institute and SMU Cox Executive Education Offer Networking Event

Global Talent Networking Event

The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, and Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business Executive Education, ranked among top business schools by BusinessWeek, Forbes, and other business publications, announced today that Allan Schweyer, Executive Director of the Human Capital Institute, will speak at a networking breakfast for the Dallas-Forth Worth business and professional community.

The event, sponsored by PreVisor, will take place Wednesday, May 10, 2006, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM CT, on the SMU Dallas campus in the James M. Collins Executive Education Center Auditorium, 3150 Binkley Avenue.

Schweyer’s presentation, The Impact of Talent on Global Competitiveness, explores the critical role global talent and human capital plays in defining the future for ourselves, our children, our organizations, communities, and the nation.

The session will open with Schweyer illustrating that how individuals, organizations, and communities respond to the forces of demographics, globalization, education, and performance/innovation determines success or failure. Schweyer will then examine key industries and occupations in the Dallas-Fort Worth economic community against these forces. He will also discuss what needs to be done by all stakeholders in organizations and the community to protect and improve quality of life through advanced human capital management.

Allan Schweyer is the Executive Director of the Human Capital Institute (HCI). Directly prior to joining HCI, Schweyer was senior researcher, analyst, and consultant with HR.com and the editor of the HR.com staffing vertical.

From 1995 to 1999, Schweyer directed the award-winning National Graduate Register, Campus WorkLink, and SkillNet.ca programs with Industry Canada and the World Bank, which connected university and college career centers across Canada and later, in Latin America and Eastern Europe.

In 1999, Schweyer co-founded the On-line Recruiters’ Association of Canada. In 2000 and 2001, he worked as a management consultant to Reed Business Information in Boston while attending graduate school at Harvard University.
