With nearly 50 organisations already signed up to the Disability Standard, the Employersí Forum on Disability is urging UK business and public sector organisations to sign up to the Disability Standard benchmarking process before the March 2005 deadline passes.
The Disability Standard not only shows organisations where they need to take action, but also signposts legal requirements and provides best practice solutions through a combination of the Benchmark Survey, individually tailored feedback, workshops and the Standard Directory.
The Disability Standard provides a systematic approach to assessing disability related risk and navigating the complexities of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) within the context of best practice.
Organisations from a wide range of sectors have signed up to complete the Benchmark Survey, a process that runs from the beginning of March until the end of April 2005.
The entire process, from Benchmark completion to feedback and action planning, has been designed to ensure participants benefit from a system that is comprehensive, cost effective and independently assured.
David Mills, Chief Executive, Post Office Ltd said:
ìUsing the Standard is the best option for companies who want to get it right on disability. Royal Mail Group, including Post Office Ltd, has signed up and I would urge others to do the same. This cost-effective management tool covers the whole remit of disability as it affects every aspect of your business.î
