The CIPP to hold charity art auction during NPW 2012

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is pleased to announce that it will be holding a charity art auction during National Payroll Week (NPW) 2012, with proceeds going to the Birmingham Centre for Arts Therapies (BCAT)

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is pleased to announce that it will be holding a charity art auction during National Payroll Week (NPW) 2012, with proceeds going to the Birmingham Centre for Arts Therapies (BCAT).

NPW is one of the most important weeks for the payroll industry. This year, it takes place 3–7 September 2012 and the theme is ‘Driving payroll forward’. NPW provides the perfect opportunity for employers to recognise the valuable contributions of payroll professionals to businesses as well as celebrating the important role that the industry plays within the British economy as a whole.

The CIPP charity event will be taking place on Thursday, 6 September from 5:30pm at a venue generously provided by BHSF. The evening will start off with a pub quiz, followed by a charity art auction. The auction will include a collection of works from art students studying at Solihull College.  Email npw@cipp.org.uk to enter a team of five for the quiz.

Mr Lindsay Melvin, Chief Executive of the CIPP, said: “The CIPP is delighted to be hosting a charity event to benefit such a worthy cause as the local charity BCAT. NPW is one of the biggest weeks on the payroll calendar and we wanted to take the opportunity during this time to do something special for the community.

“We encourage payroll professionals to do the same and celebrate NPW this year by doing something different that will help raise awareness of the payroll department within your organisation. Some ideas include organising a bake-a-thon where payroll staff bake cakes and proceeds go to a local charity or even the payroll team taking part in a charity fun run. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication*. BCAT is an innovative charity which was set up in 1993 to provide an accessible arts therapies service throughout the Midlands. The centre is unique in that it brings together art, drama, music, dance movement therapy in one place. The charity is based on the philosophy that everybody has the ability to respond to arts in many ways and that the arts can provide an effective channel to respond to difficulties. BCAT allows people the opportunity to explore these difficulties in a safe environment with a registered therapist.
