This week Majid Nagra was the third casualty of Sir Alan Sugarís boardroom after allegedly not contributing enough to this weekís task. After the gym equipment produced by his team failed to sell enough units to win the challenge, questions were raised as to why Majid said nothing when presented with a prototype of a product that clearly did not match the brief.
Monster.co.ukís Apprentice watcher observes:
When working as part of a team itís easy to sit back and let the more assertive members do the work. But good team work relies on everyone pulling their weight. The buck stops with the manager but all team leaders need to take responsibility for their roles. If you feel an idea one of your team members has suggested wonít work then speak up! Donít just assume your team leader will control everything.
Disagreeing with the boss is one of the workplaceís biggest challenges. For anyone caught in a difficult situation with a boss, Monster.co.uk recommends the following tips:
- Itís essential to fulfil your own role. Your manager leads the team, but everyone has their own responsibilities
- Weíre all human and your boss can make mistakes like everyone else. Sometimes a polite reminder is all it takes to get things back on track
- If you disagree with your manager it is crucial to make your point in a manner that doesnít undermine authority
- Any disagreements with your manager should be taken up on a one to one basis. Donít lead a mutiny within the team
