Tech-free e-learning launch at Learning Technologies 2007

MyKnowledgeMap (MKM) is introducing a new version of its e-learning course planning system, Compendle for companies and professionals on Stand 81at Learning Technologies 2007 this January.

Europeís premier learning and skills event, covering every aspect of organisational learning and performance improvement technology, Learning Technologies takes place at London Olympia 2 from Wednesday January 31st to Thursday February 1st.

Compendle Professional is an easy to use tool that enables the creation, customisation and publishing of e-learning courses without technical know-how.

A complete course-planning system, Compendle can handle a range of SCORM 1.2 and IMS standards and covers every aspect of course design, from content íbrainstormingí, through course structuring and planning learning outcomes, to publishing courses on VLEs, online, or on CD.

Compendle Professional also allows trainers to custom-modify and update e-learning materials. Courses can be built, adapted and tailored for company training by enabling the bundling in of logos, case studies, web links, objectives and notes, images and text used in compatible, Adobe Flash-based learning courses.

Compendle Professional is the latest introduction to MKMís Custom Learning Studio suite of user-friendly programs for the creation of interactions that can be built into complete, flexible courses without requiring specialist technical expertise.

With a clean and accessible interface, Custom Learning Studio enables trainers and human resource managers to import any computer-based resource - whether from CD-ROM, word-processed handouts, weblinks or topics in a pre-packaged VLE-based course - and organise it into the course that they want to teach.

Other components in the Studio include Storywriter Toolkit and Hotspot Toolkit.

Storywriter Toolkit is an easy-to-use program to create comic-strip stories with multiple outcomes, and decision points requiring student engagement.

Newly-approved by BECTA, the Goverment agency supporting all four UK education departments in their strategic ICT developments, Storywriter Toolkit now enables course developers to import their own digital photographs, so activities can be even better tailored to studentsí learning needs.

Storywriter Toolkit custom comic-strip interactions can be created from a range of templates, which map out possible routes through a story and show the decision points encountered on the way. Drag-and drop content enables the fast change of interactions and outcomes for up-to-the-minute learning thatís perfectly suited to particular client or learner groups.

Storywriter activities conform to e-learning standards and can be published in VLE, CD-ROM, internet, intranet, or network share formats.

Hotspot Toolkit is a program that allows trainers to create fun, engaging images and 3D environments with hot-spots that learners can click to reveal answers or further information. At the end of the activity, learners can print out a report to take away, showing what theyíve discovered.
