Taleo Helps Small and Medium Sized Businesses Win the War for Talent

Joie de Vivre Hospitality and MySQL Turn to Taleoís SMB Solutions to Attract the Best Employees

Taleo Corporation, the provider of on-demand talent management solutions, today announced that its recently formed Small and Medium Business (SMB) Business Unit continues to help SMBs, including Joie de Vivre Hospitality and MySQL win the war for talent. More than 900 customers have turned to Taleoís SMB Business Unit and implemented Taleo Business Editionô and Taleo Hourly Expressô.

Small and medium-sized businesses today face a number of challenges including the impending retirement of the baby boomer generation, appealing to a new generation of workers, growing pains and increased competition from multi-nationals for qualified talent. Businesses are also grappling with meeting multiple compliance-related requirements while trying to source for qualified candidates, including Sarbanes Oxley, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, SAS 70 and other employment-related regulatory bodies.

With unprecedented growth planned for the coming years, Taleo will become an even more important component of our talent acquisition strategy, says Babak Dehnad, director of HR for MySQL, a popular open-source database company. ìAs an SMB with a global presence, we receive hundreds and hundreds of resumes on a daily basis, and many of them arenít a match for what weíre looking for. With Taleoís innovative web-based solution, weíre able to streamline our hiring processes, find the most qualified candidates, and ensure that we adhere to our internal and external compliance guidelines.î

With Generation Y ñ a force of as many as 70 million ñ in full swing in the workplace, organisations are contending with how to deal with the new young, smart, and brash workers that want to work, but donít want work to be their life. Taleoís SMB Business Unit is appealing to this new ìinternet generationî of workers because it helps organisations better source and manage the applicant process and design their career sites to connect automatically with other internal and external audiences.

ìAs Californiaís largest boutique hotel company, we consistently put a high premium on customer service and aim to provide the best possible experience for our guests,î said Robert Banovic, Recruitment Manager of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. ìWe aspire to have a diverse and multi-generational employee base. With Taleo weíre able to recruit and retain high quality employees across functions, without disrupting the workflow of our organisation, all while providing the superior service our guests have come to expect from Joie de Vivre.î

Taleoís SMB strategy is supported by the latest research conducted by the Aberdeen Group on The Global War for Talent: Getting What You Want Wonít Be Easy. In this report that surveyed over 600 businesses (71% of companies surveyed have fewer than 2,500 employees), it was found that 63% of ìbest-in-classî firms used an applicant tracking system vs. only 42% for ìlaggards.î The research suggests that more and more SMBs are recognising the benefits of talent management solutions, and are adopting innovative solutions to empower hiring managers and recruiters.

ìThe formation of Taleoís SMB Business Unit underscores our commitment to small and medium-sized businesses,î said Jason Blessing, group vice president and general manager, SMB, Taleo. ìThe main goal of our solution set is to help organisations find the candidates they need quickly, efficiently and affordably. Many of our customers are happy to be off the old ëpaper, pencil, calendaring and spreadsheetí recruiting solutions on which hiring managers have traditionally relied. Whether our customers are challenged with a shortage of suitable applicants or too many applicants, we help them recruit the best potential employees from diverse industries including: healthcare, high-tech, professional services, recruiting, retail and financial services.î
