Fujitsu Siemens Computers reminds British businesses and workers to switch off their PCs when they leave the office on Tuesday 5th June 2007, the day designated by the United Nation as World Environment Day(1). A failure to turn off PCs costs British industry a staggering 123.2 million(2) each year, according to Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
Dave Scott, head of communications, at Fujitsu Siemens Computers commented: ìSo many employees think itís sufficient to leave their PCs on standby, but we hope to crush that myth and encourage people to instead turn off their machines.
ìAs we are about to enter the summer season and the majority of people will be leaving the office for their one- or two-week annual break, we want companies to make sure that employees are not leaving their computers on standby during this protracted period of time. If everyone does this simple thing of switching off their PC, then it really starts to make a difference.î
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has been one of the pioneers in both the manufacture and design of green PCs. The company recently launched the Q5000 mini-PC. This is the smallest PC in its energy-efficient ESPRIMO PC range.
Similar in size to a shoebox, the Q5000 weighs in at two kilograms and measures 5 x 16.5 x 16.5 centimetres. Beneath the surface, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has combined the latest Intel Mobile Technology and sophisticated system design to make it outstandingly quiet and economical in terms of power.
