Succeeding in the Recession: Research Report Institute of Leadership & Management

Tuesday 21 April 2009

New research from the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), to be launched on Tuesday 21 April, will reveal what knowledge, skills and personal characteristics CEOs are looking for in their management teams, as they respond to the global recession.

In what promises to be a candid insight into the mindset of CEOs, (between 50 – 65 chief executives of medium sized enterprises will participate in comprehensive interviews), the research will act as barometer of the levels of confidence that the leaders of medium sized enterprises – many of which will become the big businesses of the future – have in the capabilities of their people.

The report entitled, Succeeding in the Recession, will identify where CEOs think the gaps are between the skills they require of their management teams, to strengthen their business and capitalise on new opportunities, and those that already exist. Could it be that some firms actually need to recruit for different skillsets, or should they invest in and train the ones they have?

In turn, the research will also identify which skills and qualities are most valued during these turbulent times, and what managers who are currently out of work should be aiming to improve on when looking for another job.

Succeeding in the Recession, will be launched at a breakfast briefing on Tuesday 21 April. Penny de Valk, Chief Executive of the Institute of Leadership & Management will be speaking at this event, chairing a panel of guest CEOs.
