The leaked news this morning that George Osborne will raise the threshold at which people pay income tax to £10,000 from April 2014 has been welcomed as a boost for jobs and the morale of the UK workforce by Elliot Kidd, co-founder of social media-based recruitment website staffbay.com

The leaked news this morning that George Osborne will raise the threshold at which people pay income tax to £10,000 from April 2014 has been welcomed as a boost for jobs and the morale of the UK workforce by Elliot Kidd, co-founder of social media-based recruitment website staffbay.com

Elliot says: “Tax is a political battleground, and we think the Chancellor’s announcement on income tax today will bring a much-needed boost to a beleaguered workforce and will help hardworking families who have suffered as much as anyone during the economic downturn.”

Elliot added: “What employers need now is an extension to the National Insurance Holidays so that are given the encouragement to create jobs and drive the economy forward. Whilst low and middle income earners will welcome the news that they can earn more without being taxed, the Chancellor needs to give struggling SMEs a break too, as they’re the lifeblood of the economy.”
