Siemens Communications (SC) wins Gold for the Staff Development Programme of the Year

Thursday, 3rd February 2005 - The Dorchester Hotel, London

Siemens Communications (SC) wins Gold for the Staff Development Programme of the Year after being recognised by the Institute of IT Training as ían enterprise that had implemented a proactive staff development programme for its employees that had made a significant and measurable contribution to the organisationís business objectives.í

SC submitted its entry in conjunction with e-learning provider, SkillSoft. It is the third year running that a SkillSoft customer has won a Gold Award using a portfolio of SkillSoft products.

The judges were impressed by SCís comprehensive new staff development model, which includes development roadmaps for each individual in the organisation. To deliver against each roadmap SC adopts an integrated learning approach which incorporates a high number of SkillSoft courses, job aids, skills briefs, skill simulations and Books24x7 referenceware as well as live and blended training and self-study activities.

In a summary of the reasons why SC achieved the Gold Award the Institute said: Skills at Siemens were developed using Siemens Virtual Training School - which was considerably extended to meet the development needs of their staff. Over 500 courses were added, and the new portfolio included situational simulations, web-based delivery and Books24x7 referenceware. Strong metrics were demonstrated that clearly indicate the business benefit being achieved.

From high level innovation to detailed implementation, this was an outstanding entry and well worthy of the Gold Award.
