The latest Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report showed that the Scottish job market continued to grow in January, although the pace of growth was slightly lower than at the end of 2005. However, the Scottish labour market continued to perform better than the UK average and has seen stronger growth for eight consecutive months.
Accounts & Financial staff recorded the strongest demand among permanent employees in Scotland, while IT & Computing was the most in-demand category of temp worker.
The reportís unique ëBarometerí signalled an improvement in Scottish labour market conditions for the thirtieth consecutive month in January. Although the Barometer fell to 58.8, its lowest level in three months, it still signalled a strong rate of growth that was above the UK average.
