Scotcareers has emerged as one of the top choices for Scottish recruiters and jobseekers since its launch in April 2004.
This new recruitment site, powered by Trinity Mirror, Scotlandís biggest newspaper publisher, has demonstrated that there is room for new players within the Scottish e-recruitment sector. Solid results demonstrate that the popularity of the site is growing and that it has achieved great awareness within the Scottish marketplace.
With an average job count close to 3,000, and more importantly well over 1,000 new jobs appearing on the site every week, Scotcareers has quickly become an established site for Scottish jobseekers to click into.
There is clear evidence that Scotcareersí traffic has been steadily building. Data from Neilsen//NetRatings for October 2004 shows 54,787 unique users and almost a million (990,668) page impressions. This means the volume of visitors to Scotcareers has trebled since launch in April. Important performance indicators including number of jobseekers registered on the site and the number of job applications generated have also trebled in just a few short months, showing that there is growing confidence in the site to deliver the right jobs to its audience.
Added to this Scotcareers is now an industry-registered site and future audits will be verified by ABC electronic.
The regional strengths of Trinity Mirrorís newspapers in Scotland means that there are always jobs covering a wide geographical area on the site. Many of Scotlandís major employers are now featured or have already featured, including Royal Bank of Scotland, NTL, Norwich Union, Asda, ScottishPower, Greggs, Kimberly-Clarke and TeleTech among others.
A recent survey by Scottish Opinion*, conducted from 10th-16th November, shows high awareness of Scotcareers among adults in Scotland and more specifically among jobseekers. It is now the second most recognised recruitment website in the market and has handsomely outperformed other new jobsites available in Scotland.
Over a short period of time 26% of Scottish adults and 49% of Scottish jobseekers have become aware of the Scotcareers site, placing Scotcareers firmly on the e-recruitment map.
Scotcareers has enjoyed heavy marketing support in its first year and awareness of the advertising campaign is high. Most encouragingly this has been developed into a willingness to use the site. Among Scottish adults browsing or seeking a job, almost one in four (24%) now say they would access Scotcareers. This places the new Scotcareers site ahead of established competitors like Monster, Jobs.scotsman, Totaljobs and Scottishjobs.
Summarising the early success of Scotcareers, Mark Hollinshead, MD of the Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail Ltd said ì Scotcareers is quickly rising to the top of the choice list for jobseekers in Scotland. Combined with the unrivalled coverage of Record Recruitment, our new JobsPlus section in the Sunday Mail and sister titles in the S&UN weekly portfolio, we are now able to offer recruitment clients the single most powerful media package across Scotland. Scotcareers is on track to be Scotlandís number one recruitment website in 2005.î
