The role of assessment in modern policing will be the first topic debated by a new knowledge network formed to help UK police forces develop their resourcing strategies through comparison of methods and exploration of best practice.
Organised by assessment specialists Reed Consulting, the networkís first event is a round table at Dali Universe, adjacent to The London Eye, on 22nd May.
Police Forces throughout the United Kingdom are sending key personnel responsible for assessment and selection to participate in this innovative forum, where attendees will discuss the findings of an extensive piece of research into current assessment practices across police forces in the UK.
Staged at a time when HR is under increasing pressure to support police workforce modernisation, the event is designed to provide a clear view on current best practice and future developments.
Reed Consultingís Head of Assessment Services Julie Lowe, a former Senior Psychologist and Head of Assessments at The Metropolitan Police Service, explains:
In the run-up to the round table we are conducting some valuable research into the assessments used for senior police officer promotion and the methods used to identify successful candidates at this level. This will enable the Police HR professionals who manage promotions assessments to learn about new and innovative methods being implemented at other forces, and also provide an ideal opportunity for them to bring interesting ideas and topics to the table.
