Remploy, the UKís provider of employment services for disabled people, has appointed Osman Yousaf as its new higher education services manager, working to improve links with the higher education sector as part of the organisationís drive to support thousands of disabled people into employment.
Osman, aged 26 and from Birmingham, recently completed a three year graduate training scheme with Remploy, spending time in a variety of departments including internal communications, marketing and business development and working on a number of successful projects. He has also worked as an employment advisor in one of Remployís city centre recruitment branches in Birmingham, giving him first hand experience of supporting disabled jobseekers into employment.
In his new role, Osman will be working within a new specialist division within Remploy which aims to provide the link between training, learning and employment and thereby increase the number of disabled people making the transition from the education system into permanent jobs.
Osmanís role will focus on developing the range of support services available to disabled graduates wishing to make the transition from university into employment. By making specialist employment services more accessible to disabled graduates and linking with some of the UKís top employers, Remploy aims to help more and more disabled graduates maximise their potential in employment.
ìHaving been through the graduate recruitment process myself, I understand the difficulties a graduate with a disability or health condition may face,î said Osman.
ìI am extremely excited about the opportunity to create links with higher education bodies and work collaboratively with employers and training organisations to offer a range of services for graduates. We aim to support disabled graduates to fulfill their potential and help to bridge the gap between education and employment.î
