Recruitment site launches TV AD campaign

So how did your school friends turn out? Did they fulfil their dream to be an astronaut, fire fighter or a ballerina?

So how did your school friends turn out? Did they fulfil their dream to be an astronaut, fire fighter or a ballerina? Probably not, but this tantalising question is the central theme of a new TV ad campaign launched this month (December 2006) by reunion website, Friends Reunited in conjunction with its sister site, Jobs Reunited.

Running throughout December on ITV, the adverts transport viewers back to their schooldays in a bid to tap into the curiosity of knowing what your school friends are up to now compared to you. Itís hoped this will drive millions of passive job seekers to Jobs Reunited in search of their dream career.

Each ad sees school kids telling the viewer what they are up to now. One boy looks over his shoulder at a school pal and says, ìI work for himî, highlighting the importance of getting back in touch with old school friends as they could help your career progression.

Gail McLaughlan, head of Jobs Reunited, said, ìWe want to tap into the mindset of the millions of passive job seekers out there. Thereís always that curious need to find out if youíre doing better than the girl you sat next to in maths class or whether little Tommy really did become a scientific whiz-kid. Hopefully it will encourage members to get cracking on reaching their career goal and Jobs Reunited can help them out.î

The adverts demonstrate ITVís ongoing commitment to supporting its websites by offering airtime. Individual advert campaigns are planned for both Friends Reunited and Jobs Reunited in the New Year.
