The importance of recruiting diversity in the workplace will be highlighted at a unique national diversity event taking place on 8-9 March 2006 and hosted by the Centre for Economic & Social Inclusion, in partnership with Talent Recruitment.

For companies committed to addressing diversity issues in the modern workplace, the event is not to be missed. Speakers from a number of blue chips and media groups will be offering their own insights into recruiting diversity, including Barkers, B&Q, BskyB, BT, Transport for London, Ford, Herbert Smith LLP, ITV, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Independent, UBS and Yorkshire Water.

Hosts Inclusion and Talent Recruitment will be joined by other leading organisations in the field of diversity such as the Commission for Racial Equality, Jobcentre Plus, Stonewall and the University of London.

The ground breaking convention promises to provide a vital insight into recruiting diversity issues for all kinds of visitors ñ including HR and diversity specialists, recruitment managers and agencies, Jobcentre Plus staff, training, skills development and employment providers.

The event at the Novotel in Hammersmith provides a valuable opportunity to discuss key themes, such as changing demographics and attitudes, legislation and the diversity challenges facing businesses today. In particular, it will help delegates to identify what needs to be addressed when looking to recruit, integrate, retain and progress a diverse workforce.

Margaret Hodge MP, Minister for State, will be among speakers from over 25 organisations at the forefront of the diversity agenda will highlight examples of commercial best practice and what drives their diversity agenda. They will be joined by a series of experts from Government, policy, research and legal sectors who will host interactive workshops focusing on the many considerations currently facing organisations.

The second day of the event offers a choice of ëDiversity in Actioní study visits, which will give delegates the opportunity to see how diversity in recruitment is being tackled. The choice of action-packed days out will bring to life the challenges, projects and opportunities that exist in the dynamic labour market of London today.

Delegates can choose to take part in a visit to inmates of a prison, a Docklands Light Railway ride to the new East London and future home of the Olympic village, a session with a top legal practice, an interactive tour of the new Wembley National Stadium, or a morning in the London ITN Studios.
