The Recruitment and Employment Confederation has scooped a National Training Award at the south east regional ceremony for its management training and assessment work on the Extraordinary Leadership Programme for the Recruitment Investment Group (RIG).

The purpose of the programme is to develop RIGís recruitment consultants, including those in charge of their own teams, into extraordinary leaders and motivated managers. This has been achieved by running a unique assessment centre and a series of training sessions.

The award-winning programme has been developed, led and facilitated by the RECís Head of Training Andrew Carr and Training Manager Lauren King.

ELP was developed for RIG, an REC corporate member, which offers a niche brand to individuals wanting to invest in recruitment companies operating in temporary work markets, such as healthcare, energy, vets and security.

To achieve its aims, RIG wanted to increase market share, making itself a market leader and to do this, it committed itself to developing staff competence to manage and grow the business, raising professional and ethical standards within the organisation. Key to this was developing individuals into motivated and inspirational managers.

Andrew said: ìAfter ELP training, individuals are able to financially analyse and develop their business; manage, retain and increase the business base, improve team/personal performance and motivation and work towards greater business efficiency, responsiveness and profitability.î

Twelve delegates undergo an initial assessment centre followed by intensive training over a six week period. During this process, they will learn about managing time and stress; establishing coaching and personal development routines as well as delegating tasks and motivating others.

Judith Armatage, the RECís Director of Professional Development, said of the award: ìWinning the National Training Award means a great deal to the REC Training Team. Our training and qualification programmes are well received by our clients and this award gives us that important external endorsement.

ìWell researched and designed training is at the top of our agenda and the Award hopefully demonstrates to those who haven't experienced REC training that in addition to our Open course portfolio we have an innovative and tailored approach to meeting the very specific needs of the recruitment industry.î

The REC runs a series of bespoke training courses tailored to the requirements of individual companies. For more information, please contact Lauren King on 020 7009 2172, lauren.king@rec.uk.com.
