REC to launch Enterprise Agency for the Recruitment Industry

.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has embarked on a 6-month project to evaluate the feasibility of providing an enterprise agency, geared specifically for the Recruitment Industry.

The REC Recruitment Industry Enterprise Agency (RIEA) would help new recruitment businesses to thrive, by providing them with access to specialist help, support and training from day one, as well as ongoing business training, close professional support and mentoring.

Gareth Osborne, RECís Managing Director said: ìWe estimate that 1000 new recruitment businesses are established each year. We are aiming to establish a vehicle for better business start-ups and for the development of these recruitment businesses, so that they can flourish and operate at the highest possible standards.î

The REC believe that the right support and guidance is essential to help recruiters become more professional, commercially effective, environmentally astute and quality-driven. With the right help in the crucial early days, recruitment businesses can become better trained, better informed, more operationally efficient, more profitable, more socially aware, more innovative, more customer focused and more employee-friendly ñ to the immediate benefit of their clients and themselves.

Heading the project is RIEA Project Director, Denise Walker, who ran her own recruitment consultancy for 11 years. She is certain that the RIEA is exactly whatís needed for new recruitment businesses: ìThe recruitment industryís needs are unique, therefore the RIEA would need to be industry-specific, staffed by specialists, with a real understanding of the issues faced by recruitment consultancies. The service provided would be effective, efficient and responsive. We have a vision to provide new recruitment businesses with an industry-specific ëone stop shopí for all their business needs. I wish this service had been available when I started out! î

The project kicked off in the last week with information gathering from numerous sources, including customers, government agencies (such as the DTI) and potential partners, business angels and mentors. In the next phase, the information will be collated and a plan of action put forward. When the new enterprise has proven to be viable, the service will be formulated and made available to recruitment businesses.
