The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the trade association for the UKís 27 billion private recruitment and employment industry, has appointed a new director for its West Midlands region.
Susie Ankrett will be joining Philip Delaloye and Richard Toy in serving the West Midlands region where the REC currently has a membership of 643 corporate businesses and 575 individual recruitment consultants.
Susie, who is director of Plum Personnel based in Warwick Road, Solihull, will be active in promoting the REC in the region and in particular, its core role of raising awareness of professional standards throughout the recruitment industry.
She will also be involved in a series of events the REC is holding in the West Midands region and will act as the RECís local ìambassadorî with employers, MEPs and MPs.
For 20 years Susie was a Further Education lecturer and manager at Solihull College then worked in training and development with the Industrial Society. She had a complete change of career in 2001 when she set up Plum Personnel with her business partner and closest friend, Julie Whitehouse.
At the helm of Plum, she steered it to become the first recruitment company in the UK to successfully pass the RECís Diversity Assured Recruitment Audit. She also sits on the board of RITE, the RECís Recruitment Industry Taskforce for Enterprise.
One of her other greatest achievements was appearing in Hansard after she suggested to her local MP a Bill to extend the rights of parents for flexible working which was presented and read in Parliament in March 2007.
Of her appointment as a director of the RECís West Midlands region, Susie said: ìI have always been passionate and serious about ensuring the highest standards are met and maintained in our business to ensure that both candidates and clients alike receive the best possible service.
ìI feel privileged, excited and enthusiastic at having the opportunity to contribute to the work of the REC on a local basis. Currently I see the short to mid-term future as being a real challenge for the recruitment industry. But with any challenges, there always come opportunities.î
