Railway runs smoother using online recruitment

4mat.com

English Welsh Scotland Railway this month celebrated the launch of their new online recruitment system.

Designed and built by 4mat.com the partnership between specialist recruitment web company and corporate was put together to directly address a problem; as a successful business EWS needed to recruit but found they had no central, streamlined way for candidates to apply for their jobs and no management information on who had applied. As HR Manager David Bullock commented ìOur recruitment process was not as good as our business and we needed to do something about that.î

The process started six months ago but an initial contact with their web company proved fruitless as the company were skilled designers but were inexperienced with recruitment web sites. Bullock ìWe looked at several different suppliers but decided we needed a company that specialised in recruitment web sites and had a significant track record both in corporates and agency work.î After a short pitching process 4mat.com were appointed and started the project.

The project required detailed planning to ensure the webs ite met the needs of all three interested parties; candidates, HR and line managers. After a demonstration version and then a beta release the final solution was rolled out and now includes a full job content management system as well as a comprehensive online application process. The online application then ties in with a detailed statistics service covering all aspects of the recruitment cycle. Said Bullock ìIt was essential that we were able to track applications especially in terms of ensuring our equal opportunities policy was being fulfilled.î

With the site going live this month both parties are extremely excited about the potential of the new solution. For EWS-the-corporate the recruitment site seamlessly also integrates seamlessly with their corporate web site in terms of the web, technology platform and brand.

4mat are equally hopeful that they can continue to build from the success of this project. James Saunders who worked with EWS throughout the project commented ìThis solution will put EWS ahead of their corporate competitors and we look forward to being able to work with them in the future to keep them ahead.î
