Public sector disability discrimination

Advance notice of research findings

The Disability Discrimination Act comes into full force on Friday October 1st 2004. The act requires the public sector to lead the way in ensuring that people with disability are no longer excluded from employment through discriminatory practices. This is a big responsibility.

Question 1. How many UK public sector employers will be breaking the law with the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act ?

Question 2. How many jobs are unavailable to people with disability due to discriminatory and illegal practices in the public sector?

Question 3. Which central and local government employers will fail to meet their statutory duties on Friday October 1st 2004?

Question 4. Will the Disability Discrimination Act lead to a flurry of legal cases resulting in the public sector being liable for huge compensation payouts?

Find out the answers to these questions from the Jobsgopublic Survey of Disability Discrimination in Employment. 2004.

This survey is the first and only survey to feature an assessment of every central and local government website. The survey will determine the full extent of public sector failure to deliver jobs to people with disability. Results will be available for every individual public sector authority in the UK.

Findings to be published September 30th 2004.
