PreVisor announced today their sponsorship of and participation in the 25th Annual Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Conference. The dedicated team of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology researchers from PreVisor and PDRI (a PreVisor company) will be part of 38 different sessions in Atlanta, April 8-10, 2010.
PreVisor researchers will participate in panel discussions, symposia, special events and poster sessions, sharing the company’s industry-leading research on assessment science and personnel selection. Some of the many topics include trends in computer adaptive testing (CAT), demonstrating the value of testing to business, going global with assessment programs, testing and social responsibility, and leading-edge applications of technology in psychometrics. Dr. Mike Fetzer will also lead a pre-conference workshop for continuing education credits.
The combined team of PreVisor and PDRI I-O experts includes researchers who will receive SIOP’s 2010 M. Scott Myers Award for Applied Research in the Workplace. The award goes to a joint project team comprised of Walter C. Borman, Janis S. Houston, Tracy M. Kantrowitz, Richard A. McLellan, and Robert J. Schneider, in recognition of their work developing and validating computer adaptive personality assessments.
“Well-deserved congratulations go to all of our presenters and award winners,” said CEO Noel Sitzmann. “Upholding the rigorous standards of I-O psychology is central to our mission of connecting employment decisions to business results and sets us apart from others in the talent measurement industry. The inclusion of such a large number of our submissions in the SIOP Annual Conference program confirms this commitment. As always, it is an honor to have so many of our members invited to participate in this year’s agenda.”
The three-day conference will showcase PreVisor research in:
13 symposia, including advances in unproctored Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT), how to leverage technology, new directions in interpersonal skills measurement, and assessment trends for businesses.
13 poster presentations, covering development of performance appraisal systems, the effect of economic recession on personality and cognitive scores, and roles in employee engagement.
9 panel discussions, including technology-based front-line manager assessments, international validation research, and corporate social responsibility.
A pre-conference accredited workshop entitled “Going Global: Considerations in Establishing and Managing Global Assessment and Survey Systems.”
Acceptance of the 2010 M. Scott Myers Award on Thursday, April 8th.
Two past SIOP Presidents – Dr. Walter C. “Wally” Borman, CEO of PDRI, and Dr. Elaine Pulakos, COO of PDRI – will present the Distinguished Professional Contributions Award for “Performance Management - What Works and What Doesn't.”
The full list of presentations is available on the SIOP Conference website [link: http://www.siop.org/Conferences/10Con/Program/default.aspx] and will be posted in PreVisor’s exhibit booth at the conference.
