Personality Profiler allows managers to conduct more effective interviews

Assessment specialist PSL has created a new interview profiler to help executives

Assessment specialist PSL has created a new interview profiler to help executives, line managers and team leaders to conduct more effective interviews.

Called the Personality Interview Profiler (PIP), the self-report assessment and interview guide takes around eight minutes to complete and can be used for all types of roles including sales, customer service, administration and support. It assesses eight characteristics of an individualís personality: assertiveness, caring, confidence, drive, extroversion, openness to change, social
sensitivity and structure.

This quick and easy-to-use interview tool is an invaluable way of giving managers information which can help them make the right decisions regarding staff selection, development and appraisals, said Richard Alberg, Chief Executive of PSL. The PIP delivers a real insight into an individualís personality, attitude and preferred work style. It helps to remove the guesswork from the interview process.

Administered online, the PIP can be easily integrated with
recruitment software, enabling large numbers of people to be profiled without high resource costs. The interviewee is emailed a link to the profiler, which allows them to complete it in their own time, via the Internet. The interviewer then receives a personalised report before the individual is invited to interview. The report summarises
the intervieweeís personality characteristics - and preferred work environment - and it suggests not only areas that interviewers should probe but also specific questions that they should ask.

The assessment is very easy to administer and the results are simple to feedback, said Richard Alberg.

The Personality Interview Profiler is available for unlimited use, on an annual licence. The licence price varies depending upon the size of the organisation. PSL can also brand the profiler with an organisationís logo.

Based in Harrow, PSL is one of the UKís leading providers of online tests and questionnaires for selection and development. It has produced a white paper - called Why donít interviews work? - which gives best practice guidelines for competency-based interviewing.
