Penna, the human capital management consultancy, threw open the doors at their London City office to offer 30 students an insight into the world of work.
The students, aged between 16 and 17 visited Penna as part of an initiative organised by the UK Career Academy Foundation, which aims to encourage young people, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, to enter the business arena.
Penna has been a partner to the UK Career Academy Foundation for the last 12 months. Gary Browning, Chief Executive said, ìPenna is in the business of talent development in the corporate world, so supporting a charity which develops talent in young people felt very natural to us.î
Anne Riley, Managing Director of Recruitment Communications gave a presentation and behind the scenes tour of the Penna building, whilst Beverley White, Managing Director of Career Transition hosted lunch with the students followed by a Q&A where she was quizzed on all aspects of her working life.
Beverley White at Penna said, ìItís been great to talk to the students about the importance of education as well as the challenges and rewards of a corporate career. Itís extremely rewarding to think that this visit may play a part in what will hopefully be a number of very successful careers.î
The wider Penna team are also actively involved with the Foundation. Many employees act as mentors, providing students with one-to-one support on coursework and advice on the essential life skills they will need to flourish in their future careers. Others have adopted ëGuru Lecturerí roles, imparting their business knowledge at schools and colleges across the country to inspire the young people involved in the scheme.
