Pathfinders Offers Media Companies a Master Class in People Development

A Master Class for media companies on how to retain and develop their employees

A Master Class for media companies on how to retain and develop their employees is being hosted by London-based media recruitment agency, Pathfinders Media Recruitment on Thursday 17th May from 6-8pm at the offices of ZenithOptimedia, the winner of last yearís Pathfinderís Media Employer of the year.

The event is designed to help media companies discover new people development strategies and learn about the secrets of staff retention. They will also hear first-hand about how to create a happy workforce from experts in companies such as ZenithOptimedia, Fleishman Hillard and Trimedia Harrison Cowley, all of which were acclaimed for their employee investment and development programmes in 2006.

Sue McLelland, Director at Pathfinders will deliver the opening address and comments, ìThe media industry is renowned for its high staff turnover and poor reputation for people management. Many media companies are small and pour their resources into client delivery rather than people management and this is often the root cause of employee churn and unhappiness. Once again, this yearís Blue Book salary survey revealed that people development is the top priority for job seekers, over and above financial reward.î

ìThe good news is that there are many tips and strategies that can increase staff motivation and improve retention levels, without any major financial investment ñ this is what the Master Class is all about. Leading media companies will share their best practice and transfer their knowledge not only to help the attending companies improve their strategies, but also in a bid to raise overall industry standards,î added McLelland.

Rudi Symons, People Development Executive at ZenithOptimedia will discuss how the company won last yearís Employer of the Year award as a result of its commitment to employee development, training and innovative employment practices. Michelle Leff, HR Manager at Fleishman Hillard will pass on some innovative recruitment methods which will help the companies present attract future top employees and Sam Williams, Financial Director at Trimedia Harrison Cowley will reveal the secrets of creating a happy workforce. The session will end with an interactive question and answer session and the opportunity to network.
