The findings of the latest National Online Recruitment Audience Survey, NORAS, has found that more and more people from all walks of life across the UK are using the internet to look for jobs.
The survey dispels the preconception that exists that online recruitment is only used by certain specialist sectors, such as IT or Media professionals. Online recruitment is now used by almost all sectors of the workforce, from school leavers and graduates, through to manual workers and career professionals.
The independent study of 24 leading recruitment sites gathered statistical data from ABCe and surveys completed by over 18,000 online jobseekers, to present detailed information on the audiences of each site.
Simon Devitt, Managing Director, fish4jobs comments:
ìWhilst we are delighted at achieving our highest ever traffic figures, what is really interesting is that the study demonstrates that online recruitment is now truly a mass market recruitment medium. We provide thousands of job opportunities up and down the country that are of interest to everyday people and as a result weíre now seeing increasing numbers of them use us to look for their next job.
According to NORAS, 80% of fish4jobs users earn less than 30,000 per year, 59% are female and over 163,000 of our monthly visitors are part time employees. One of our highest user groups are blue-collar workers, who are not traditionally associated as users of online recruitment.î
Tim Elkington, Managing Director of Enhance Media, who compile the NORAS study comments:
ìUK internet penetration is well over 50%. Combine this with the NORAS results that show that a broad cross section of the population are using the internet to look for jobs and the only conclusion can be that the online recruitment is an effective recruitment tool - whatever your recruitment needs.î
Key findings:
fish4jobs is rated as the UKís easiest to use recruitment site
Over 150,000 jobseekers only use fish4jobs in their online job hunt - the most exclusively used recruitment site in the UK
fish4jobs attracts a greater representation of ethnic minorities than the UK population
